C,N,P Stoichiometry

C,N,P Stoichiometry

Our understanding of freshwater systems in the context of the global carbon (C) cycle has benefited greatly in the past decade from the development of the “pipe model” (e.g. Tranvik et al. 2009) and the land‐ocean aquatic continuum, aka "LOAC" model (e.g. Reigner et al 2015). However these concepts have still barely been applied to macronutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus, and has not considered these nutrients jointly with carbon (Maranger et al. 2018). in this theme, we investigate the fluxes and stocks of C, N, P within and between perialpine lakes using field samples of water, sediments and biota. C and N centennal trends are also analysed based on lake sediment archives.

  • Reedbeds stoichometry in 3 perialpine lakes (Bourget, Annecy, Aiguebelette)
  • Trends in C and C:N in lake sediment archives of the world
