Modelling & Integration

Our main objectives are 1) the understanding of nutrient cascades in lake-watershed systems: impact on lake operation, material storage and GHGs (including transfers from the watersheds, and internal reallocations and exchanges wit the atmosphere - GHG), and 2) the understanding of the role of catchments - along with past and current occupation - on the ecological status and emerging properties of the lake (concerns the long-term lake system trajectories and lake-watershed integration approaches). Our main topics:

  • Modelling long-term climate change effects on perialpine lakes using distributed computing
  • Modelling long-term transports rates of sediments and C,N,P from lake-watersheds to downstream lakes
  • Integrating the C cycle at the lake-watershed scale
