Diversité, importance quantitative et fonctionnelle des prédateurs bactériens : les Bdellovibrio et organismes apparentés dans les écosystèmes lacustres alpins et les milieux marins (C-BALO)

Le projet C-BALO se focalise sur un groupe de bactéries prédatrices d'autres bactéries, les Bdellovibrio et organismes apparentés (BALOs). Il vise d’abord à décrypter la diversité des BALOs dans deux types d’écosystèmes ayant des caractéristiques physico-chimiques différentes ; deux lacs périalpins, le Léman et le lac d’Annecy, et une zone méditerranéenne, la baie de Banyuls. Ce projet a également pour but d’évaluer l'importance quantitative et la distribution des BALOs dans ces différents milieux. En parallèle, et afin d’essayer de comprendre au mieux le rôle fonctionnel des BALOs au sein de la communauté bactérienne, l’étude de leurs interactions avec l’environnement sera effectuée. Afin de répondre à ces différents objectifs, un échantillonnage mensuel, au cours d'une année complète, des divers milieux étudiés est programmé en 2018. Différents outils issus de la biologie moléculaire et de bioinformatique seront déployés, notamment l’approche de metabarcoding du gène 16S pour pouvoir décrypter la diversité des BALOs. Pour l’estimation de l’abondance des BALOs, une approche par qPCR sera utilisée. Nous envisageons aussi d’isoler plusieurs souches de BALOs pour affiner nos résultats.
