In October 2021, the iWAYS team welcomed Yu Gu and Maëva Duboeuf.

After studying pharmacy, Yu Gu obtained his master's degree ("Study about the Molecular Mechanisms and Pharmacological Activity of Transthyretin in Diabetic Retinopathy") in biochemistry and molecular biology at Jiangnan University, China. His thesis, carried out in the  iWAYS team, is co-supervised by Dr Pierre-Yves Lozach and Dr Frédérick Arnaud (BUNYA team). He is the co-author of three publications: Gu Y, Di Hu, Xin Y, Jun Shao. Transthyretin affects the proliferation and migration of human retinal microvascular endothelial cells in hyperglycemia via hnRNPA2B1. Maëva Duboeuf obtained a Bachelor of Science, Technology, and Health with a specialization in Life Sciences at the Faculty of Sciences of Montpellier before joining the Master of Life Sciences, Integrated Pathophysiology of Paris Sciences and Letters (PSL - EPHE). For her Master's internship, she joined Dr Maxime Ratinier's Bunyaviral Biology team, where she studied the interactions between innate immunity and the Toscana virus. In October 2021, she started her thesis within the  iWAYS team and she is working on the impact of the Toscana virus NSs protein in the induction of apoptosis in infected cells. Her thesis is co-supervised by Dr Pierre-Yves Lozach and Dr Maxime Ratinier (BUNYAteam).

In December 2021, the PR2T team welcomed Benjamin Riocreux-Verney

After a bachelor's degree in chemistry, Benjamin Riocreux-Verney obtained an Master's degree from the University of Grenoble-Alpes in immunology, microbiology, and infectious diseases. He completed a 3-month internship under the supervision of Dr Florence Baudin (EMBL, Heidelberg, Germany), and a 6-month internship under the supervision of Dr Hélène  Dutartre (CIRI, Lyon, France). He pursued his experimental training in molecular virology by working on the hepatitis C virus in the team of Dr François-Loïc Cosset (CIRI, Lyon, France).

In December 2021, Benjamin joined the PR2T team to carry out his thesis, thanks to funding from VetAgro Sup, under the supervision of Dr Caroline Leroux, DR INRAE and Pr Jean-Luc Cadoré, PR VetAgro Sup. His project focuses on the oncogenic properties of the β retroviruses JSRV and ENTV, responsible for respiratory tract cancers in small ruminants

Yu, Maëva and Benjamin are enrolled at Lyon 1 University, in the E2M2 doctoral school.
